Koi Restaurant group has claimed prime real estate in some of the trendiest cities in the world, from New York to Bangkok. The Los Angeles branch of Koi Restaurant, located in West Hollywood on Cienega Boulevard between Waring and Melrose, is the place to be for those who want to be seen. This chic restaurant and lounge serves ultra modern Japanese fusion plates in a modernly decorated atmosphere with a Zen sensibility. Food is arranged with the same aesthetic harmony, blending traditional Japanese ingredients with California style. Just order the Hamachi Fusion to understand this unification. Thin slices of yellowtail sashimi fanned out on the plate, with a shaving of jalapeno and drizzle of soy citrus sauce; it is Japan meets California. Signature hot dishes include Grilled Sea Bass in a Honey-Balsamic Glaze or Miso-Bronzed Black Cod, all made with the freshest selection of fish. The full bar creates refreshing cocktails that can be enjoyed at the beautiful outdoor patio where it is not uncommon to rub elbows with the Hollywood A-List. Koi Restaurant LA is the perfect place for a taste of the fabulous nightlife in West Hollywood.
Excellent customer service! Great food!!!
The ambience is excellent. Service and food are very very good. It's a bit overpriced though. It's worth a good night out
This was my first experience at Koi. Wasn't sure what to expect, but was pleased with everything. The hostess seated us right on time for our reservation, the wait staff was kind and knowledgable. The food was fabulous and surprisingly I thought the prices were actually fair. Sushi items were more unique than a regular Japanese restaurant and the portions were definitely adequate. We go to LA a few times a year and if we wanted Japanese I would go back to Koi anytime. If you're looking for a quieter table ask for one in the back.
We loved our meal at Koi.
My wife & I went to Koi for our 12 year wedding anniversary with very high expectations that were easily met & exceeded. The ambiance was great, the energy was awesome, our waitress was fantastic and the food & service were just outstanding. I loved everything about the place.
The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was romantic. Don't order the usual, try something new....you'll be happy you did!
Best restaurant I've been to in LA - outstanding food!
I love this restaurant! Thank god for our waitress, coz when we saw the menu items we just immediatly turned to the back page where they had the traditional sushi rolls- the ones we all know. Our waitress automatically told us if you come to koi you have to try the food we are known for, not the traditional stuff all sushi restuarants have. She wne through the menu and gave us her recommendations. We ordered almost everything she suggested. When the food came out and we got our first taste, we didnt want it to stop. It was so amazing! iv had some good sushi in my day, but this was so different and pleasantly suprising, i havent had anything like it. i strongly recommend checking this place out! Expect to pay for it though. Id fly back from Australia just to eat there again!
This resturant is a must vist whilst in LA. The resturant itself is extremely private both outside and inside. The staff are really lovely and the food is beautiful.
My husband and I were very excited to visit Koi as we had heard great things. The Seabass was delicious and my husband raved over the Kobe steak. We did wait 20 minutes before our drink order was taken and then waited another 15 minutes before our drinks reached our table. Had the place been busy this would have been understood. The fact that there were several empty tables and it was still early on a Monday evening... there was no reason for the slow service. Our food came out at different times which was strange. My husbands green beans came out 20 minutes before our entrees. The desert was also wonderful. When the hostess Megan saw my husband looking for a more romantic table she quickly approached us and asked if we would like to move which was great. Our first table was literally right by the hostess stand and front door. Unfortunately our server seemed as though she was annoyed with us once she saw that we would not be ordering alcoholic beverages. She visited the table of 4 next to us no less than 7 times. They were drinking wine and mixed drinks. We saw our server one time after our meals were served and that was to drop off the check.
Great food, though the portions weren't as big as the price was-it was decent quality and tasty. This restaurant is definitely an adult venue so I wouldn't recommend brining the little ones along. Nice environment-dark and club like and beautifully decorated with an exotic CalAsian theme. Great for birthdays.
VERY GOOD ......
The food and service was excellent. You must try their rock shrimp hand roll with spicy sauce. It's to die for. I'm from the Chicago area and we have many fine restaurants. I think this place surpasses any sushi place in Chicago.
your typical "sceney" restaurant, great service, good drinks list but a pretty typical menu and pretentious air in the air.
not impressed -- try Nobu instead -- loud and not well set up, clear table selection based on "favorite clients" -- lousy table near the kitchen -- wouldn't go back -- a shame since I am in LA entertaining clients often ...
It might be a place to be seen, but that is all it is. The prices are so high for what you get. I ordered the Tuna with rice, which was yummy but barely anything on the plate. We also ordered the lobster, which was very expensive and there was hardly any lobster at all. IMO I would opt for another expensive restaurant over this one, at least you might get what you pay for.
